South Mountain Creamery Middletown

If Maria can traverse around the hills singing "The hills are alive with the Sound of Music"..That's how I felt while eating the ice-cream from this creamery, enjoying the view from a short hill, looking down onto the barn, the creamery, and slurping peach ice-cream. YUmm!!! This is a called pure bliss. Find your way to this place on a nice summer afternoon. There are assortment of ice-cream flavors to try- Black raspberry, coconut joy, mocha chip, Red and white blueberry, peach, chocolate, orange pineapple and many more. They also sell farm milk, yogurt and flavored yogurt such as mango, strawberry, blueberry yogurt. They also have assortment of cheeses. At 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM, the farm cows are milked. You won't find any farmer, bending down milking the merry cow..No...the whole process is automated. The cows are lined up. Around 14 at a time, there are suction cups that are fitted onto their udders and the machine starts and thick milk flows in transparent tubes. Quite a spectacle! Take your kids to this creamery and watch the milking. You can also take a walk across the creamery to a barn with calves and chicks. If you are around there around 4 PM, the calves are given bottled milk and you can watch that. There is also a hen coop and chicks and eggs in an incubator. Near the playground there is a short hill and if you walk over it, you suddenly find a small pond with fishes and ducks. Quite a retreat. Lovely summer day...so make the most of it.

We get delivery and it is fantastic! Great service, excellent dairy, meats, and produce! If you are in the delivery area we can't recommend them enough!
